Fette Compacting is excited to announce the start of the 2024 apprenticeship programs. Twenty motivated young individuals have begun their journey in various technical and commercial apprenticeships, as well as dual study courses.
On August 1, 2024, the new apprentices began their 'kick-off' days with anticipation, meeting fellow apprentices, students, and the three-person training team. The goal was a smooth integration into the company. During the induction, they completed a creative project presented to management and their families. The following four weeks focused on team building in the training workshop, fostering cohesion and a strong sense of belonging within the Fette Compacting family.
?With this approach, we aim for our young talents to quickly settle into their new environment, identify with our company, and foster a strong sense of community,” explains Philipp Sierau, Director of HR. “Creating a supportive and connected environment from the start is essential to us.“
For the first time, new recruits are directly involved in the company's 'Culture Journey.' “Over a year ago, we started this journey. Our values - Passion, Integrity, Appreciation, and Zukunftsfreude - are the foundation of our corporate philosophy, 'Together - for quality of life.' With innovative developments and services, we strive to enhance people's quality of life,” says Anke Fischer, CFO. “We ensure our job starters reflect these values from the interview stage, and during the 'kick-off' days, we provide them with the full context.”
At our Schwarzenbek headquarters, about 720 employees develop and manufacture highly complex machines for tablet production. The expertise of each individual is crucial, which is why the company prioritizes first-class training to support young talent. Fette Compacting offers a wide range of future-oriented technical and commercial apprenticeships, such as cutting machine operator, mechatronics technician, and industrial clerk.
In cooperation with the Technical University of Lübeck and NORDAKADEMIE Elmshorn, Fette Compacting also offers dual and practice-oriented courses of study in various disciplines, from economics and informatics to mechanical engineering. These opportunities, including internships and supervised Bachelor's and Master's theses, are very popular with students. Starting this year, the company is also offering the technical informatics and mechatronics degree courses for the first time.
Through internships, Girls' & Boys' Days, company tours for entire school classes, and taster days, Fette Compacting—the largest employer in the region—provides valuable insights to spark interest in training and careers within the company.
"The quality of training and the targeted promotion of new talent are top priorities for us. We prepare our junior staff specifically for the future technologies and challenges of international mechanical engineering. With our new dual study courses in technical informatics and mechatronics, we are addressing the unique challenges we face daily as a high-tech manufacturer," says Sierau.
As an international company, Fette Compacting offers highly committed apprentices the chance to complete part of their training with a four to six-week assignment abroad at one of its subsidiaries. This experience helps them gain valuable language and intercultural skills while broadening their perspective on an increasingly globalized world.
After successfully completing their training, apprentices and dual students have excellent prospects for permanent employment: the retention rate has been nearly 100 percent for years.
?A solid education is the foundation for a successful career path. That’s why we place great emphasis on supporting our new apprentices, who can expect comprehensive, diverse, and challenging training in a multinational environment,” emphasizes Joachim Dittrich, CEO.
The application process for the 2025 apprenticeship year is already underway. Interested individuals can explore available apprenticeships and detailed job profiles on Fette Compacting’s careers page.
